Stop sending people off LinkedIn

One of the most common mistakes I see experts make on LinkedIn is working hard to build their audience on the platform, then immediately send people away from it with a link.

Technically, this makes sense. Strategically, it often doesn’t.

If your goal is to build expert status, trust, and visibility on LinkedIn, we need to avoid any friction and reduce effort levels.

We’ve been so concerned with AI slop but what about the dumpster fire that is the LinkedIn inbox?

I just started clearing out my inbox and gave up. There were a handful of lovely messages, brief comments and personalised outreach but the rest? I’m dizzy from all the circling back.

Picture this. You’re walking down the main street where you live. A random person grabs you by the arm and says “I know someone you know, let’s work together”. Do you say, “Sure, take my money?”.

I hope not.

You don’t need to abandon Instagram to concentrate on LinkedIn

Something that has been coming up for clients is the need to create content for another platform – in particular, how are they going to manage maintaining Instagram and LinkedIn (along with email newsletters, podcasts, Substack’s etc.) Repurposing where you can is always a great step but if you want to dial down on Instagram this year but maintain a presence I have a few ways you can do this.
